Asahi Refining North America Releases Fourth Edition of its Annual Sustainability Report

October 27.25

Asahi Refining North America, a leading global refiner of precious metals, is proud to announce the release of the fourth edition of its annual Sustainability Report, reaffirming the company’s longstanding commitment to responsible sourcing, environmental stewardship, and transparency across all aspects of its business.

Asahi Refining has long taken pride in maintaining openness and accountability throughout its operations, striving to meet the highest standards within the precious metals sector. This year’s report continues that legacy, showcasing how the company integrates sustainability into its core operations while aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The report details the company’s ongoing work in strengthening supply chain integrity, supporting community development, and investing in environmental performance across its North American facilities.

Building on the vision of its parent company, ARE Holdings, Inc.—whose name stands for Asahi, Resources, and Environment—Asahi Refining continues to advance its mission of ethical growth. The 2024–25 report highlights the company’s OECD-aligned compliance processes as well as the usage of tools like Ethixbase360 to enhance due diligence and traceability. It also features Asahi’s active participation in the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) and the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), underscoring its commitment to international best practices in responsible sourcing.

A featured case study spotlights the company’s collaboration in Potosí, Bolivia, where sustainable artisanal and small-scale mining practices have improved livelihoods and strengthened local communities. The report also details Asahi’s environmental initiatives, including reductions in hazardous waste, increased recycling, and continued investment in low-emission refining technology—most notably through its new Salt Lake City silver refinery, designed to improve energy efficiency while supporting the local economy.

“Publishing our fourth Sustainability Report reflects our unwavering commitment to accountability, integrity, and continuous progress,” said Simon Houghton-Dodd, Senior Manager, Precious Metal Supply Chain Assurance. “It demonstrates that sustainability is not a separate initiative—it is the foundation of how we operate.”
